Barrio La Boca. I already showed you some pictures in a previous post, but I have some more to share with you. This neighborhood retains a strong European influence, with many of its early settlers being from the Italian city of Genoa. It possesses a lot of the most colourful houses in Buenos Aires. Barrio La Boca.

Hi Karine,

I remember the post about tango and those painted houses. Why do they paint them is such bright colours?

As I've been told, the paint used for the houses in La Boca was taken from what was left to paint the boats in the port nearby.

I love the colorful look of the buildings there. I wish people over here would be a bit more into that as well. At least some regions wouldn't be as drepressing when you drive through as they are. I also believe that it makes the people who live there more cheerful as well, no?

I love bright colored buildings. To me, it's something I relate to warm places (Florida, Mexico, South America).

Love that story about the left over paint Karine. However, to say that coca-cola is a leftover european influence might offend some people. This european prefers Pepsi-Max! ;-)

Thanks all for your comments.

Eric - About the Coca Cola I agree, this one's not being quite European. Nonetheless I liked how they used it and 'incorporate' it in that wall ;)

True Karine and excellent colours they used to paint it. I'll have to pass the link along to someone I know who collects all that coca-cola stuff.
