Are we in Hong-Kong or Buenos Aires? Those are street vendors. What they do is cook in front of you little cookies/pastries, some with the shape of teddy bears, others are round-shaped filled with pastry cream, or any other Chinese cream. Quite tasty and I guarantee you the line is big on week ends :) --In any case, you'd better check on Lisi's Hong Kong daily to discover a quite extraordinary Chinese city.

Interesting cooking device and good theme photo. When the photo is enlarged it appears the pastries sit in round holes. I would assume the pastries have to be turned to cook on both sides. Are these fried?

Thanks all!

Lisi -- I would love to see your version of those street vendors. I bet in Hong-Kong they must be even more yummi!!! :))

Denton -- All the cookies are cooked on one side, the inside is much softer as they don't turn them around. When they're ready, they add the cream, and close them. They're not fried, which I prefer ;)
