La Casa Rosada (Pink House), the presidential palace that was begun during the presidency of D. F. Sarmiento. It now occupies a site where colonial riverbank fortifications once stood. Today after repeated landfills, it stands more than a kilometer inland. From its balcony, Juan and Evan Peron and other politicians have convened throngs of impassioned Argentines when they felt it necessary to demonstrate public support. And of course Madonna stood on that very same spot for the movie Evita (which I still did not see).

I loved Madonna on that movie! I was crying that time she stood and started singing "Don't cry for me Argentina"!
