Here are the 3 main Argentinian figures, known worldwide. Carlos Gardel, on the left, was an enormously popular tango singer killed in an airplane crash at the height of his career. For many music fans, Gardel embodies the soul of the tango at the end of the 19th century. Eva "Evita" PerĂ³n, in the center, First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952, was never an officially elected political figure, but she came to exercise more power and influence within the government than anyone but her own husband. D. Maradona, on the right, former Argentine football player. He is regarded by many as one of the greatest football players of all time. They can be seen in the neighbor la Boca, easily recognizable by its bright colors. --Maya, thanks for your birthday wishes :) I'm ready to celebrate it today for the first time in Argentina :) Thanks again and gros bisous. Can't wait to see you too really soon now.

I believe there two other statues that are missing in the balcony: Borges and Cortazar.

Great photo- I like the rich colours. Eva Peron and Maradona have a global profile (even I have heard of them!)

Rudygiron-- I guess Borges could stand on the balcony too ;) I'm not too sure about Cortazar though.
